Description
E.L.S.i has been developed in conjunction with the Recovery Industry Support Charity (RISC) to provide the automatic shutdown of Emergency rear-facing red flashing lamps to ensure that they are not illuminated while the vehicle is moving as required by the new government regulations controlling the use of Emergency rear-facing red flashing lamps by the vehicle recovery industry. This automated control is provided by a dedicated microcontroller which is monitoring vehicle movement using a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) and an Inertial Measuring Unit (IMU) which is utilised if GNSS signal is not available. This microprocessor control will disable the rear-facing red flashing lamps output when the vehicle speed exceeds a preset level.
Features
- The rear-facing red flashing lamps cannot be illuminated if the amber lamps are not active.
- When leaving an incident, the rear-facing red flashing lamps will be turned off automatically when the vehicle exceeds 5mph.
- The rear-facing red flashing lamps can be turned on before the brakes are applied.
- To allow time for vehicle manoeuvring at the scene, ELSi starts monitoring vehicle movement 10 seconds after the rear-facing red flashing lamps are switched on.
